Event Networking 101

Each year, there is a new trend in adult webmastering. 2001 was the year of the webmaster resource, and regional conference. With the birth of several new smaller conferences and the launching of literally hundreds of new mini-resource centers, one wonders how to make a logical choice on which of these new services are right for you and how you can make them work to your best advantage.
Just as it would be financially impossible to advertise your webmaster service on each and every webmaster resource that comes down the pike, it's equally impossible to attend every webmaster conference. Some conferences are aimed at newbies, others at corporate programs, some are actually more for the adult industry fan- and still others encompass all of these traits. In the "more bang for your buck" category, the larger Internext Expo wins hands down. However, if your needs are more niched out, then perhaps attending one or more of the smaller events will better suit your tastes.
In 2001 alone there were two Internext Expos, two Cybernet Expos, one Adult Dex, six Adult Webmaster Events (AWE), two Media 2000 Negril Jamaica Events, one Great Lakes Webmasters Conference and a special Island Gathering in Curacao. When budgeting your time as well as your money, you need to choose which conferences you should attend based upon your individual needs and schedule.
Which conferences suit your needs best? Are you looking for a little networking vacation? Do you need specific seminars and workshops on a particular subject or industry niche? Are you a new webmaster just getting started who needs some one-on-one help? Ask yourself these questions, and then see which conferences fit the bill. You will also need to decide which fits your budget best and plan accordingly.
Webmaster events have evolved much, in the past couple of years. They started out as just a few booths and a lot of hype. Fortunately for webmasters, they have grown into an information and networking extravaganza with a little something extra thrown in for everyone, depending upon your interests, needs and budgets. Because these events are becoming more regional, affordable and frequent, you should definitely make plans to attend at least one large event and one smaller event within each calendar year. The networking, education, information and experience are just what you need to keep your batteries recharged, fresh and full of energy.
