Free Hosted Everything - by Tiffany Garden (September 2008)
Whether you are a total newbie or an experienced webmaster, you will find something useful in free hosted utilities, sites, and scripts. I'm a total control freak, so sometimes I do get uneasy when I'm using something that is subject to the whims of the person who runs it. However, the benefits of using the various free hosted tools and services outweigh the risks - but I will say right off the bat that you really don't want to use these as your only network. |

What Makes a Good Web Host in 2008? - by Chris Sellers (February 2008)
Here is an overview of ten adult hosting solutions. They were not ranked by their popularity, number of users or industry ratings. We mention them because of options they make available, their advertising presence, word-of-mouth, personal use and the Klixxx staff’s general knowledge of the industry. How much more random of selection could it get? We hope that this will give you an unbiased cross-section of what is available in today’s hosting market. |

Finding
the Host with the Most - (January 2004)
So
much of your site's ultimate success depends on finding the right
host-and so much grief can follow if you blunder onto the wrong
one instead. Along with choosing the domain name, selecting a
hosting solution is one of the most important decisions a new
webmaster makes. Not only will the effects on the site's ultimate
success be significant- even critical-but these two decisions
can cause more damage to your brand, and are more problematic
than other aspects of the site to undo, if it turns out you made
a big mistake... |

The
Perfect Host - by Lawrence Walters
(February 2003)
The legal issues
affecting adult webmasters have been analyzed, and over-analyzed,
ad nausem. However, little has been written about the unique legal
concerns of adult hosting companies. This article is intended
to provide a reasonably comprehensive legal checklist, identifying
the key areas of concern for hosts that accept adult Website clientele.
Of critical concern to any hosting company is strict compliance
with the dictates of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA").
While an exhaustive review of the specific requirements of the
DMCA - which must be followed to the letter... |

How
to Find the Host with the Most -
by Kath Blackwell (March 2002)
So what do hosting companies feel is the most important factor,
in providing the best service to their clients? Redundancy, financial
stability, quality of service, support and a balance of price
- were just some of the top answers given by the hosting experts
we spoke with. You might be surprised at what each of them felt
to be most important. "I have been asked this question many times,
and I can sum it up in one single word...REDUNDANCY," said Tony
Morgan, of industry leader National-Net.com. "Redundancy means
more than just having two connections to the Internet. A world-class
hosting company should have redundancy in all network components...electricity,
space, "environmentals," etc... |

What's
in a Domain Name? -
(February 2003)
Your domain
name is critical intellectual property and a valuable asset-a
key element that can work for or against your site right from
the get-go. Choosing the name (like most important things) is
not as simple as one might think-a fun late-night brainstorming
session with lots of drinks flowing will not cut it here. This
decision demands very careful planning. Surfers prefer memorable
words, computers (and engineers) are more comfortable with numbers.
When a browser converts a domain name to the corresponding IP
Address of the site's server, it's "resolving" the domain name... |

The
Web Hosting Industry is Alive and Well
Web
hosts have gone through a bad patch recently, but have emerged
ready to supply webmasters with what they need most--lots of reliable
bandwidth at good prices. After a turbulent and somewhat scary
hiatus, webmasters don't need to worry too much about the general
health of the hosting industry. Bandwidth is a critically important
issue for adult sites because their media-rich content demands
a lot of it. The amount of bandwidth you choose to purchase can
make or break your site... |

Dot.What?
The Internet domain name space is broadly
divided into a number of Top Level Domains (TLD) that appear as
the last element in a URL. A small number of generic domains (gTLD)
such as .com or .net are available to anyone, as well as about
200 country code domains (ccTLD), such as .ca or .uk that usually
carry some restrictions, such as citizenship, residency, or operating
a legally established business in the country. Some ccTLDs impose
no restrictions, and are available for registration by anyone.
Examples include .tv (Tuvalu) and .ws (Western Samoa)... |
