Cybernet 2004: California, Here We Come...
by Kath Blackwell
We've had
two webmaster events to attend in the sunny southwest - The Phoenix
Forum in April continuing a magnificent tradition, and now Cybernet
Expo, set for June 9th-12th in San Diego, California, hosted and sponsored
by another adept group of collaborators.
Both events are instrumental parts of the growing phenomenon, if you
will, of the mid-size webmaster event. Attracting webmasters in the
hundreds - rather than the thousands seen at the larger Expo-style
events, or the handfuls that attend the smaller regional gatherings
- these conferences blend education, business, pleasure and networking
in unique and beneficial ways. In fact, the buzz on the boards already
in 2004 is that both of these events will become the "must attend"
industry gatherings of the year, with some webmasters saying it's
about time.
CYBERNET EXPO - June 9-12th, 2004

Hyatt Regency Islandia; San Diego, California
Anyone who has ever attended a Cybernet Expo over the past seven years,
knows the amount of work, time and energy that Fay Sharp, Dave Gould
and Alex Henderson put into making each event even better than the
last. Now, that winning team has joined forces with the talents and
experience of the folks at the YNOT Network, bringing Cybernet Expo
to a new venue and adding new standards.
Over the years, Cybernet Expo has invited the adult Internet industry
to such venues as Montreal, New Orleans and Las Vegas. Now, it will
be the first industry event of its size and reputation to grace the
beautiful beaches of San Diego, California. The location alone is
guaranteed to attract attendees from all over the country - and the
globe, giving all businesses and webmasters in attendance even more
reason to make sure that Cybernet Expo is one of the top industry
events on their 2004 calendar!
The fabulous Hyatt Regency Islandia is located in the heart of Mission
Bay Park, giving visitors sensational views of both the harbor and
the Pacific Ocean. Just six miles away from the San Diego International
Airport, this hotel is conveniently located within minutes of Sea
World, the San Diego Zoo/Balboa Park and the famous Gaslamp District.
International cuisine, world-class entertainment and amazing sunset
beaches are just some of the most popular attractions of this corner
of Southern California. The hotel offers sailboat and sport fishing
rentals, a Massage Therapy Center and well-manicured, landscaped grounds,
patios and pools. Also available are two dining facilities - the Islandia
Coastal Grill and the Baja Café - and a Java Hut conveniently located
in the main lobby.
The seminars planned for the 2004 San Diego Cybernet Expo conference
include: Search Engine Submission & Optimization, The Current State
of Billing, The Hot Issues of 2004 and Running a Profitable Paysite.
Special workshops will also be hosted, including a Newbie Orientation
("all the questions you want to know, but perhaps were afraid to ask"),
an Amateur Panel and a Political Discussion Group. Two "orientation"
seminars are also planned, giving 2-4 selected sponsors the opportunity
to address the attendees on industry-related issues.
Parties, group events and attendee-only networking opportunities will
also be scheduled and posted to the website in advance of the conference
so that you will be able to plan out your schedule for this event.
With so many workshop, informational, networking and activity-related
planned events, you will want to make sure that you create a schedule
allowing you to participate in as many of these activities as possible
- and don't just lose yourself in that gorgeous California sunshine!
In addition
to workshops, seminars, sponsor orientations and planned parties/activities,
the San Diego Cybernet Expo will also give sponsors the opportunity
to present their programs and products in an "exposition" type showcase.
Expo booths will be set up inside the networking area rather than
in a separate Expo hall, giving attendees easy access to both the
booths, workshops and networking opportunities all in one location.
Sponsor tables, with literature, handouts and other promotional materials
will also be available inside the conference hall, and at a special
"Corridor Cruisin'" event planned for Thursday night.
As promised on the event website, several new enhancements and additions
to this year's Cybernet Expo are assured to make this THE Southern
California event for professional and serious webmasters and Web companies.
With opportunities available for both attendees and sponsors that
far exceed those given at other industry events; Cybernet Expo is
the perfect platform for any member of the adult Internet community.
Attendees can register via www.cybernetexpo.com.
All businesses interested in sponsorship should contact sponsors@cybernetexpo.com
today, to see how you could become involved! No matter what your experience
level or time in the game, the San Diego Cybernet Expo will give you
an excellent ROI and help you to further your business, your bottom
line and your presence within the industry.
Make YOUR Plans to Attend Today!
Getting out to industry events isn't just about partying or pushing
your programs to other webmasters, it's about the networking - the
one-on-one "getting to know you" meetings that you have with each
other between the parties, at the planned events and on the way
to the workshops and seminars. The companies that put on these gatherings
do an amazing service to the adult Internet industry. Without them,
many webmasters would not get the education, information or support
necessary to build successful businesses, make essential contacts
or help their businesses to grow.
Whether the gathering is in your hometown, across the country or
on another continent, getting yourself to these events is vital
to the success and survival of your business. The relationships
you build today could be the business partnerships that you enjoy
tomorrow. Sharing an elevator with a fellow webmaster could be that
"chance meeting" that changes your entire outlook on the industry
or helps you create a partnership that could increase your revenues
in ways that you'd never dreamed possible.
So when you make your industry event travel plans for 2004, consider
the mid-size conference. The smaller sized attendance yields more
one-on-one opportunities, gives more chance for intimate business
discussions and the regional locations can expose you to companies,
webmasters and industry veterans that don't always get out to attend
those larger events with the masses. And the mid-size events are
your ONLY opportunities to actually meet and speak with the most
CEOs of the biggest companies.
Talk to other webmasters who've attended these events in the past,
and you will find that nearly all of them will give glowing recommendations,
and most will be followed by their own guarantee that they wouldn't
miss out on attending this year's event as well. If seeing is believing
- then attending is definitely understanding.
Check out amid-size event in 2004, and see for yourself why they
are quickly becoming the must-attend events of the industry.
