Content Converts - by Chris Sellers (March 2005)
But this article is not simply about converting sales, retaining members or about how to lower your chargeback ratios. This article focuses on quite possibly the most important - yet frequently overlooked or ignorantly devalued part of any successful online virtual business: Your Content. Whether you sell sites based upon photographic still images, videos, text stories or cartoons - or whether your site focuses on a reality-based concept or a completely fantasy-driven fetish - your content should be the center of your universe. |

Crossover: Quality or Quantity? - by CJ, Purve.com (March 2005)
So, its 2005 and the gift giving seasons of Christmas and Valentine's Day have ended for another year, leaving behind piles of torn wrapping paper, broken toys and store receipts ... and if you've gone nuts over Christmas dinners, perhaps a few extra pounds... As you settle into the New Year, you'll forget about Christmas for the next ten months (what's that? you already forgot?!) - but before we forget the cheap commercial gimmicks entirely, what lessons can we learn about Quality vs. Quantity as a business model? |

18 USC 2257: Always & Forever - Some legal thoughts, courtesy of J. D. Obenberger (February 2005)
I can't stress enough how much trouble one can get into for violating this criminal statute. Violations can carry penalties up to fifteen years for each image. Mr. Thomas Reedy, down in Dallas-Fort Worth was sentenced to over 1,000 years in prison. He'll be in the federal Bureau of Prisons for the rest of his life. His young wife will spend the rest of her youth behind bars, too. Even a technical violation of Section 2257 carries a two-year prison maximum sentence... |

Censoring
the Net: Too Much Free Hardcore -
by Kath Blackwell (June 2004)
Webmaster resources, industry magazines, Web tip writers - hey,
they've all tried to warn the industry, but nobody is listening.
For years there have been countless articles written about the overuse
of free content, the easy access to hardcore content on non-member
sites and tours. And of course there's the never-ending debate over
whether or not we should lay all of the blame for our current obscenity/censorship
issues on the feet of the TGP world... |

The
Agony of Video Content - by Jo Hawke, AEBN.net (December
2003)
You've a built nice little membership site, and now
you'd like to serve what all the other up-and-coming pay-sites have:
Movies. So, what are your options? Well, you can always cut costs
by making your own. You break out your digital movie camera and
decide that the cheapest route to movies on the Internet is to talk
your friends, the cheapest actors you know, into getting freaky
in front of the camera... |

More
Than Ever, Content is Key
Visa has changed the rules, making it more difficult
for webmasters to remain in business. Chargebacks are now more of
a threat than ever, making visitor retention and a recurring business
model critical for survival. Last Summer, Visa unveiled a set of
guidelines requiring Sponsored Merchants and IPSPs to tighten chargeback
levels, dropping the acceptable rate from 2.5% to 1% for domestic
transactions. The acceptable rates for foreign traffic have dropped
one-half percent from 2.5% to 2.0%... |

Content
Essentials for Every Webmaster - by
Gary B. Smith (October 2003)
Online content is more than just copying text to a Web page and
uploading the results. The increasing importance of online content
has spawned a new breed of Internet worker; these are Online Content
Professionals who emphasize that this diverse field also includes
new forms of creative writing. Understanding Web content means being
acutely aware of the medium in which you are working and the special
demands and possibilities of online and Web content... |

Pay-Per-View
Theaters: Plug & Pay Content - by
Jo Hawke, AEBN.net (October 2003)
You've built your first adult site. You have a few pages of soft-core
or teaser, galleries, and now you want to keep those surfers coming
back, and hopefully, make some money from your visitors while they
wander around your site, and you want to do all of this with as
little effort as possible. There are Affiliate programs where you
may send your hard-earned surfers to another site - and hope they
buy something on that site, thereby generating a commission for
you... |

How
Good Are You Really? - The Importance of Quality Content in the
1% Age -
by Kath Blackwell (September 2003)
So here's the million-dollar question - how good is YOUR content
- really? Let's be honest... do you fill your site with content
that will keep your members happy and recurring for months to come
- or do you just slap together whatever you can find "for cheap,"
and hope that they won't notice? Do you fill your members' area
with 500,000+ photos from the 80's; one or two video feeds from
an over-used content dealer, and throw in a few badly written erotic
stories for good measure? |

How
to Produce Your Own Online Movie -
by Theresa Lütge-Smith (September 2003)
It's easy to create, produce and distribute your own movie, providing
you are equipped with the right tools of the trade, and the necessary
technical know-how. What was previously only the domain of Hollywood
movie producers and those with high-end and very expensive equipment
is now within reach of the masses. There are a number of reasons
for this. Firstly, there has been a drastic decrease in the prices
of digital video cameras, as well as the introduction of very affordable
and user-friendly computer editing software for both PC and MAC... |

Public
Domain? Are They Insane? - by Josielyn
Chase (June 2003)
Last summer we were working together on a three day commercial shoot
in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the end of the third day we decided to
have dinner at a trendy new restaurant that was within walking distance
of our hotel. One of the photographers joined us for the ten-minute
walk past the manmade volcanoes, street vendors hawking their wares,
cramping traffic, street performers in costume... Halfway to our
destination someone thrust something into his hands. We stared,
mouths agape, at the full color flyer from an Escort Agency, featuring
photos of Gina... |

Cozy Flash: You Ain't
Seen Nuthin' Yet! - by Kath Blackwell
(April 2003)
There's one thing that can be said about the adult Internet industry,
and that is that nothing stays old and tired for long. See anything
that can be improved and is lacking spice or punch? Give it a
minute, because I bet someone is already working on a solution.
It doesn't matter what it is - processing, hosting, sponsorships
or content - there is always room for improvement. Every once
in awhile something really fresh comes along that raises the bar,
and causes everyone to sit up and take notice. |

Content
Across Borders - by Brandon Palmer
(April 2003)
Whether you're buying, leasing, or creating your own, it's all
about content, right? Well, that's only half right. As we all
know, it's really about how many people are looking at your content,
and one way to increase those eyeballs is to think globally. Sure,
we'd all like a piece of that international pie, but how do we
get it? Expand your content to specifically target overseas markets... |

Starting
a Modeling Career - by Josielyn
Chase (March 2003)
Wow, my first column in Klixxx Magazine and I have the opportunity
to share my insight - and knowledge of the glamorous world of
modeling. What an impact the Internet has had on those starting
and sustaining a modeling career. We have entered the year 2003.
Because I began my modeling career in the mid-1990s, I have seen
a great number of changes in the modeling industry over the years.
But first, I will begin by listing some general guidelines that
continue to apply when one is seeking representation through a
legitimate modeling agency... |

Content:
The Meat of Your Site - by Kath
Blackwell (September 2002)
There's an undercurrent of anxiety sweeping through the adult
industry. Many content providers feel that webmasters don't appreciate
all that goes into creating the content that they provide and
sell, and that they don't value the real worth, investment, and
logistics involved in getting this content up, ready and available
for sale. There are model costs, film costs, photographer costs,
development costs, organization of CDs and/or downloadable .zip
files - all contributing to the outlay required to fund the creation
of each set... |

Content
with Your Content? - by Susanna
Strandberg (February 2002)
The adult world revolves around good content. Quality content
is necessary for retention of members. There are many quality
providers and the availability of good content is on the rise.
The content market is getting quite competitive. The providers
must learn how to market their content to the webmaster. Webmasters
are looking for skilled salesmen/women and are impressed by a
content provider that makes the purchase of content easy- and
professional... |

Content
or Presentation - Which is More Important?
- by Anna Harle (July 2001)
Every experienced (and even most inexperienced) webmasters know
that content is king. And, most webmasters also realize that presentation
is very important, as well. However, when it comes down to the
question of which is MORE important, most webmasters probably
haven't really thought that through. I mean- everyone knows you
need both, so what's the big deal, right? Wrong! Even though content
is king, presentation is crucial, as well as an unquestionable
necessity for a successful site... |

Getting
Content for Your Mainstream Site
- by Kath Blackwell (June 2001)
Looking for that 'something extra' is the focus of this article.
It's easy to get content for adult sites in today's burgeoning
market. Want some Asian-Lesbian-Fetish photo sets? No problem!
Looking for a little Anal-Midget-Tranny content? No problem! But
when you're looking for quality non-adult content, to use for
adding some substance to your site, it can be difficult to find
something unique among the hordes of overused, overdone, and sometimes
useless content... |
